Terms of Use

The terms that apply to using this site.

Educational use only

The Sleep Record (“this site”) provides general educational information about insomnia, sleep patterns, and related topics. By using this site, you agree that you’re using it for informational purposes only.

No doctor-patient relationship

Using this site, reading its articles, or using its tools does not create a doctor-patient relationship, a therapist-client relationship, or any other clinical relationship between you and The Sleep Record or anyone associated with it.

No diagnosis or treatment

Nothing on this site — including its articles, tools, or any other content — is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or medical advice specific to you. The 7-Day Sleep Record and Sleep Efficiency Calculator are observational and calculational tools; they don’t diagnose insomnia or any other condition, and they don’t generate a personalized treatment schedule.

No guarantee of outcomes

We make no promise or guarantee about the results you’ll get from reading this site or using its tools. Individual circumstances vary, and general educational information cannot account for your specific medical history or situation.

Emergencies and urgent care

The Sleep Record does not provide emergency medical support and is not staffed or monitored for urgent situations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency department. If you’re in crisis or need urgent mental-health support, contact a local crisis line or emergency service in your area.

Intellectual property

The articles, text, and original material on this site are the property of The Sleep Record unless otherwise noted, and are made available for your personal, non-commercial reading and reference. You may share links to this site’s pages. Reproducing, republishing, or distributing substantial portions of this site’s content elsewhere without permission is not permitted.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this site in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it or its underlying systems.

Third-party links and sources

Articles on this site cite and link to third-party sources, including clinical guidelines, government health resources, and peer-reviewed research. We don’t control those third-party sites, and linking to them isn’t an endorsement of everything on them beyond the specific point being cited. Visiting a linked third-party site is subject to that site’s own terms and privacy practices.

No warranty

This site and its content are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We work to keep content accurate and up to date (see our Editorial Policy and Corrections Policy), but we don’t guarantee it is error-free at every moment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Sleep Record is not liable for any decision made or action taken based on information found on this site, or for any damages arising from your use of it. This is an informational site, not a source of individualized medical advice, and it should be treated accordingly.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
