Privacy Policy
A plain-language description of what actually happens with your data on this site today — not a generic template.
This policy describes the current, actual behavior of this website and its tools, based on a direct review of how the site is built. It will be updated if that behavior changes — for example, if analytics, a contact form, or new tools are added in the future.
The 7-Day Sleep Record
The 7-Day Sleep Record runs entirely in your browser. Your entries are saved only in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. They are not transmitted to our server, not attached to an account (no account exists or is required), and not visible to us in any form. If you clear your browser’s site data, use a different browser or device, or use a private/incognito window, that record won’t be there — because it was never anywhere but your browser to begin with.
This confirms the existing description used elsewhere on the site — “No account or email required. Your entries stay on your device.” — which we verified directly against the tool’s code before publishing this policy.
The Sleep Efficiency Calculator
The Sleep Efficiency Calculator is even more limited in what it retains: it performs its calculation entirely in your browser and does not save your entries anywhere, including your own browser’s storage. Once you leave or refresh the page, the information you entered is gone. Nothing is transmitted to our server at any point.
Accounts and forms
This site does not currently offer user accounts, sign-up, login, or any form that collects your name, email address, or other personal details. There is no working contact form at this time — see our Contact page for the current status of that.
Comments are not currently enabled or displayed anywhere on the site.
Cookies
This site uses Google Analytics (described below) to understand overall visitor traffic, and Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser as part of that measurement. Beyond that, the underlying software (WordPress) sets cookies only for administrative logins used to manage the site — not for ordinary visitors reading articles or using the tools.
Analytics and tracking
This site uses Google Analytics 4 for basic website analytics — understanding overall traffic, such as how many people visit, which pages are read, and where visitors come from.
Google Analytics may collect ordinary website usage and technical information, such as pages viewed, your approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser information, referral or source information (how you arrived at the site), and, where applicable, how you interact with the page. Google may use cookies or similar technologies as part of this measurement.
We have configured Google Analytics with Google Signals and ad personalization signals turned off. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or to build an advertising profile of visitors, and we do not run any advertising networks or tracking pixels on this site.
We do not intentionally send any Sleep Record/Sleep Diary or Sleep Efficiency Calculator data — including sleep times, dates, notes, ratings, awakenings, sleep-efficiency values, calculator inputs or results, or the contents of your browser’s local storage — to Google Analytics or anywhere else. As described earlier in this policy, those tools continue to run entirely in your browser, and nothing you enter into either one is transmitted to us or to Google. Google’s own privacy policy governs how it handles the Analytics data it does receive.
Third-party services: web fonts
This site loads its typefaces directly from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) rather than hosting the font files ourselves. As an inherent part of your browser requesting those files, Google may receive your IP address and basic request information (such as your browser’s user agent), independent of anything we do. This happens on every page of the site. Google’s own privacy policy governs that data. We do not control or receive that information ourselves.
Server logs
Like virtually all websites, the server infrastructure that hosts this site may keep standard technical access logs (such as IP address, requested page, and timestamp) as part of normal web server operation. That logging happens at the hosting/infrastructure level rather than in this site’s own code, so we can’t give you a more specific technical description of it here — but we also don’t do anything with it beyond what any hosting provider does by default.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data. We do not have any to sell.
- We do not share Sleep Record or calculator entries with anyone — they never reach us in the first place.
- We do not use the tools on this site to build a profile of you.
